The journey through pregnancy, birth and postpartum is a sacred time deserving of care, attention and support. At Meraki Midwifery you aren't just a number. We genuinely care for you throughout this time providing extended visits to answer all your questions; true informed consent because we believe you are the right person to make decisions about your body and your baby; 24/7 availability, continuous labor support and attentive postpartum care and lactation support.

Prenatal Care

Prenatal visits are client centric. They take place either in our comfy office in downtown Ithaca, NY or virtually. Children and partners are encouraged to be a part of your visit. Most of your visit is spent answering questions, offering support for pregnancy changes and getting to know one another but also includes a gentle but thorough, low intervention check over. Labs and basic ultrasounds are performed in our office.

Birth Center or Homebirth

Births take place either in your home or one of our birth suites. Our team comes when called bringing the supplies needed for your birth. We set up, monitor you and your baby and offer labor support. We have birth tubs to borrow and are experts in unmedicated natural labor. If you need to transfer for any reason for a hospital birth we go with you to provide doula care at the hospital. Our priority is you and your baby’s safety, a positive and empowering birth experience and when possible strive to facilitate your ideal birth vision.

Postpartum Care

After your baby is born we stay for several hours until both you and baby are stable. We review newborn and postpartum care, help with breastfeeding, and clean up the birth space. When you’re ready for us to leave we go and return the next day for a full check over on you and baby. We come again on day 2-4 for another thorough check over. we are available 24/7 for questions and concerns in the first 6 weeks postpartum. There is a 2 week check in and a 6 week visit back at the office.
